Nicklas Bendtner could be snapped up by Burnley…
Read more Arsenal gossip.
Arsenal’s much maligned forward Nicklas Bendtner could leave the Emirates and sign for Championship outfit Burnely, reports the Mirror.
Burnely finished in the Championship in second spot behind Leicester, meaning they have been promoted to the Premier League ahead of next season.
The impressive manager Sean Dyche obviously wants to take advantage of the fact that the 26-year-old Dane is out of contract this summer, and would therefore be available on a free transfer.
Danish forward Bendtner is more known now for his presence on social media and tabloid newspapers than he is for his contribution on the pitch. Under Arsene Wenger last term, he was only given one Premier League starts, and eight appearances from the bench, from which he scored two goals.
Bendtner prides himself on his aerial ability, and the fact he can shoot off either foot, but his technical deficiencies mean he is unlikely to ever properly lead the line for a top club.
In fact, since 2011, he’s only scored 10 goals, eight of which were netted during a loan spell at Sunderland.
Arsenal already have Olivier Giroud as a first choice option, and young Frenchman Yaya Sanogo as a backup from the bench…
Rumours persist though that Arsene Wenger is keen to add a truly world-class forward to his roster.
Last summer, the Gunners famously failed to sign Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, who went on to win the Premier League Player of the Year award, and as a result, Wenger could do his business early this term.
Arsenal have been linked with Real Madrid’s Champions League winning forward Karim Benzema, but this potential mammoth deal will have little baring on the Bendtner transfer, with the legendary French boss more than happy to let him go.
