No. 15 Stanford is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Pac-12 rival USC. They appeared to be in position for a game-winning touchdown, but quarterback Kevin Hogan fumbled the ball away to demolish any chances the Cardinal had of snagging the win.
The Cardinal lost, 13-10, and they will look to recover against Army before they resume Pac-12 play. Hogan threw for 285 yards in the loss, but he was held to zero touchdowns and ultimately fumbled the ball when the Cardinal were on their final drive.
Wide receiver Ty Montgomery continued to be a dangerous weapon though as he finished with 83 yards on nine receptions.
The running game continued to go by committee against USC, and Remound Wright led the Cardinal with 60 yards while the slippery Kelsey Young added 39.
Kicker Jordan Williamson will look to recover from a game that arguably cost the Cardinal a win against the Trojans. He missed two field goals on three attempts.
The Black Knights came away with a 47-39 victory over Buffalo, which was led by their rushing attack. Their running game scored all seven of the Black Knights touchdowns, and Larry Dixon led the way with 174 yards and two touchdowns.
However, their running game will be much easier for Stanford to defend than USC running back Javorius Allen. Plus, the Cardinal will be angry after last week’s loss.
Prediction: Stanford 48, Army 13
