Liverpool have made Napoli battler Gokhan Inler a January transfer target, according to talkSPORT.
The 29-year-old Swiss maestro is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, and has been an ever present for the Rafa Benitez managed Serie A club.
It’s unlikely that Benitez will want to do his former club any favours though and let Inler go without a fight, as the midfielder is a crucial part of the side.
In an anchoring midfield role, Inler plays simple passes and helps the side retain possession, much akin to Lucas who is already at Liverpool. Again like the Brazilian, Inler prides himself on his ability to tackle, intercept and break up opposition play – meaning he could be used alongside Lucas in difficult games, or as a rotation option for the Reds stalwart.
Liverpool are also being linked with Porto’s Brazilian battler Fernando, as with Joe Allen injured, Brendan Rodgers only has Lucas, Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson to fill all three of the midfield positions.
