Here’s our Premier League team of the week following another brilliant round of fixtures…

GK) Julian Speroni – Crystal Palace

Fantastic performance from the Palace stopper to keep Chelsea at bay for the entire 90 minutes. Made an especially brilliant save off Eden Hazard, too.

DR) Callum Chambers – Southampton

Another excellent game from the talented young Englishman. He kept Yoan Gouffran completely quiet, and got forward up the flank to help his side to a 4-0 victory over Newcastle.

DC) John Stones – Everton

Stones stepped out of defence excellently at Craven Cottage, linking up with Everton’s midfield. The Toffees have now won five on the trot in the top flight.

DC) Thomas Vermaelen – Arsenal

Vermaelen was covering for the injured Laurent Koscielny, and did well to keep Edin Dzeko quiet. He’ll likely be leaving in the summer, but helped Arsenal pick up a point to keep their narrow chances of winning the league hanging by a thread.

DL) Jon Flanagan – Liverpool

The young Englishman bounced back from two shaky performances, by keeping Spurs flyer Aaron Lennon very quiet. Flanagan also passed the ball excellently, and did his chances of a surprise England call up no harm whatsoever.

MC) Jonathan De Guzman – Swansea

Two goals from the Dutch midfielder helped Swansea seal the three points at home to Norwich, which has probably sealed their position in the top flight next term.

MC) Adam Lallana – Southampton

Lallana is getting better and better every week, and has surely nailed down a spot on the plane to the World Cup. He smashed a thundering shot in from 25 yards against Newcastle, and left the field to a deserved standing ovation.

MC) Coutinho – Liverpool

The mercurial Brazilian was superb in central midfield, and capped his creative performance with an excellent goal in Liverpool’s 4-0 romp of Tottenham.

AMR) Jay Rodriguez – Southampton

Rodriguez’s brace made it 15 for the season, which is more than any other Englishman except Daniel Sturridge. This is even more impressive considering the fact he doesn’t even play up front!

AML) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United

If it wasn’t for Rooney, would Moyes still be in a job? Two goals helped United to a 4-1 victory against Aston Villa, overshadowing the ‘Moyes Out’ banner that was flown over the stadium.

FC) Luis Suarez – Liverpool

A tidy finish saw Suarez reach 29 Premier League goals for the season, which is more than any Liverpool player ever has. His constant harrying and battling when Spurs had the ball was only matched by his brilliance when he was on it.
