Manchester United sacked David Moyes as manager yesterday, but their plans to bring in a plethora of multi-million pound players have seemingly not been affected…
According to reports in the Guardian, the Old Trafford side have completed a huge £30m deal for Southampton prodigy Luke Shaw, and will pay the 18-year-old an astronomical £100k-per-week contract.
Cruelly for Moyes, rumours suggest the recently axed boss actually put in most of the groundwork to convince Shaw to join United ahead of the club he supports, Chelsea.
Luke Shaw has established his reputation this term, nailing down a regular spot on the left of Southampton’s defence, and winning his first full England cap as a result.
He could be heading to the World Cup as backup to first-choice left-back Leighton Baines, although Chelsea veteran Ashley Cole is also an option for Roy Hodgson.
The astronomical deal would make Shaw the most expensive teenager in football history, and also the highest paid teenager in football history.
With current United left-back Patrice Evra leaving when his contract expires at the end of the season, the club are prepared to invest in the phenomenally talented youngster who could start in the spot for the next ten years.
