Gabi has been excellent in the anchor midfielder position for Atletico Madrid this season, knowing when to join in the team’s high press and when to drop deeper and compact the team in an attempt to win the ball back.
Gabi makes 3.8 tackles and 2.2 interceptions per La Liga fixture, and also gets forward well, with three goals and seven assists in the Spanish league too – largely thanks to wonderful set piece delivery.
At the age of 30, he is enjoying his greatest ever season for Atleti.
