6. The Aussies are sore losers
As we reported earlier this week, the Australian women’s football website published an article complaining about the loss to the United States. They claimed they are a better team than the U.S. and that the Yanks are an old fashioned team whose only strategy is to cross and hope it hits Abby Wambach’s head. The Aussies actually played a well fought battle, but lost a lot of respect from football fans with this article.
5. The “Group of Death” is anyone’s game at this point
With the Sweden/Nigeria tie, the so called “Group of Death” is wide open. Although the U.S. won against Australia and took the clear lead in the group, the Stars and Stripes still have two very difficult matches where anything could happen. Group D is most definitely one of the most interesting groups, with the the second, fifth, tenth, and 33rd teams in the world. Keep an eye out for some curveballs in the group’s upcoming matches.
