5. Lawrence Taylor – Arguably the greatest defensive player of all-time, Hall of Fame LB Lawrence Taylor was one of the greatest pass rushers in NFL history. But Taylor had numerous problems throughout his career: drugs, violence, alcohol abuse. But the aftermath of his NFL career is where things really got bad. In 2010, Taylor was arrested for having sex with a 16-year-old girl and was charged with felony third-degree statutory rape, for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with someone under 17. He was also charged with third-degree patronization for allegedly paying the underage girl $300 to have sex with him. Taylor pled guilty and on March 22, 2011 was sentenced to six years probation as part of a plea agreement, in which he pled guilty to the misdemeanors of sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute. He will also have to register as a low-risk level one sex offender.
4. Ray Rice – A two-time Pro Bowl RB who helped bring the Baltimore Ravens to the Superbowl in 2012, Rice’s NFL world crumpled in 2013 when he was arrested and charged with domestic abuse of his then-fiancee Janay Palmer. Months later, a first video showing him dragging his wife out the elevator was released, which triggered the NFL to give him a two-game suspension. But in early September, a new video showing the horrifying details of what happened in the elevator – Rice punching Palmer not once, but twice – led to the Baltimore Ravens cutting their former star and preceded an indefinite suspension by the NFL. While the charges against Rice were dropped by Palmer after the two of them were married, Rice has become one of the biggest pariahs in NFL history in a matter of days and is unlikely to ever be signed by a team again.
