8. Pedro Monzon (Argentina, 1990)
The first man ever to be sent off in the final of the World Cup, and another player subject to serious injustice on the world’s biggest stage.
Monzon challenged Jurgen Klinsmann in the 1990 final in Italy, the German dived and the Argentinian was given his marching orders. Klinsmann has admitted play-acting since then but that does not alter history and his cheating led to West Germany lifting the trophy.
