1) Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)
A player who divides opinion at the moment, but certainly not one who looks worth £42.5m based on his performances for Arsenal so far. A club-record signing from Real Madrid on deadline day last summer, the German playmaker’s arrival was one of the most exciting deals of the entire transfer window, and one who could still signal a major change of direction for Arsene Wenger’s side after years of struggles in the transfer market. While seven goals and 11 assists can hardly go down as a failure, Ozil can definitely do more, and will surely improve this season on the back of a successful World Cup with Germany and with a proper pre-season with the Gunners.
