3) Juan Mata (Manchester United)
A player short of confidence after being snubbed by returning Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho last season, Juan Mata has still not looked at his best in a Manchester United shirt. No doubt the arrival of Louis van Gaal as manager to replace the hapless David Moyes will help, but there is big pressure on the Spanish playmaker, who became United’s club-record signing in the January transfer window. Six goals and four assists is not a bad return so far, but Mata can potentially be one of the best creative players in the world, and will be hoping to show that this season.
