Real Madrid are eyeing a shock move for Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno, according to reports.
Moreno struggled to have a major impact with the Reds last season after joining from Sevilla in 2014 and has found himself playing second-fiddle to 18-year-old starlet Joe Gomez this season.
According to Daily Express [via AS], the La Liga giants are targeting the Spanish international after Fabio Coentrao joined AS Monaco on loan last week.
Moreno has made three appearances for the Reds this season, all of which have been from the substitutes’ bench.
The 23-year-old would certainly arrive at Real Madrid as a back up to first-choice left-back Marcelo, and it is likely that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will want to keep hold of the former Sevilla man.
Liverpool showed its defensive frailties in the 3-0 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday and Rodgers could be keen to move Gomez into his more natural centre-back position in place of Dejan Lovren, leaving the left-back spot open for Moreno once again.
