Stanford beats UC Davis – Stanford opens season with 45-0 victory over UC Davis
No. 15 Stanford was coming off a heartbreaking 13-10 loss to No. 9 USC last week, but they recovered and showed that they are still a force to be reckoned with.
They defeated Army, 35-0, as quarterback Kevin Hogan led the way with four touchdown passes along with 216 yards on 20-of-28 passing.
Barry Sanders Jr. led the Cardinal in rushing with 92 yards, and wide receiver Ty Montgomery continued to be a reliable deep threat as he caught eight passes for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Devon Cajuste added four receptions for 52 yards, and three of those catches were touchdowns. The Cardinal defense also performed amazingly as they never allowed the Black Knights to score a point, and they were held to 207 total yards.
Quarterback Angel Santiago completed both of his only two passes for 13 yards and rushed for 29 yards on eight carries.
This win is sure to keep Stanford in the top 15 and possibly give them a boost as they head into conference play next week.
