Morgan Schneiderlin looks certain to leave the Saints in the summer, and Imbula would be an ideal replacement for the France international.
According to Le Parisien [via Daily Express], Southampton have made an inquiry over Imbula’s availibilty.
Marseille will reportedly seek £15m for Imbula’s transfer, with the Saints looking to fund the deal with the £24m sale of Schneiderlin.
Schneiderlin has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, but latest reports suggest the Gunners are in pole position to land the 25-year-old.
Imbula reportedly turned down the chance to join Chelsea in 2013, but it now seems the 22-year-old is set for a Premier League move to St Mary’s.
Southampton are looking to make a push into Europe next season under Ronald Koeman, and the signing of Imbula would be a massive statement of intent from club bosses.
