The Premier League is just after the halfway point and it’s been a cracking campaign so far. We name the best player from each of the 20 clubs after 20 matches!
20. Sunderland: Vito Mannone
It was always going to be a challenge replacing last season’s player of the year Simon Mignolet but Mannone has equipped himself well, despite suggestions he wasn’t up to the task of featuring regularly in the Premier League. The Italian has made a total of 43 saves and kept five clean sheets – not bad at a club rooted to the bottom of the table. An honourable mention must go to Phil Bardsley, who has been excellent since returning to the first team under Gus Poyet.
