4. J.J. Watt, DE, Houston Texans
This is where the MVP debate really begins since there are four candidates who are furiously putting together a case for the award. Watt is making a bid to be the first defensive player to win the award since Lawrence Taylor in 1986. The Texans star is making a strong argument as he has 17.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, 72 tackles and a pick-six.
Watt has also gotten involved on offense and caught three touchdown passes. The Texans have an 8-7 record after finishing 2-14 last season, and the defense has won many games for the team. Watt is the unquestioned face of the Texans defense, and he may steal the award if the Texans make the playoffs, which is still possible if the San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens both lose. However, the high level of quarterback play in the NFL will likely be too much for Watt.
