28. Denver Broncos – Jordan Phillips, NT, Oklahoma
Terrance Knighton left in free agency, but Phillips would instantly fill the void and help the Broncos maintain their strong run defense.
29. Indianapolis Colts – T.J. Clemmings, T, Pittsburgh
The Colts need all the offensive line help they can get for quarterback Andrew Luck, as their trenches have prevented them from reaching the Super Bowl in the past two seasons.
30. Green Bay Packers – Eric Kendricks, ILB, UCLA
The Packers finally get the upgrade they need at inside linebacker, and Kendricks gives them a reliable tackler and run defender that makes their defense more complete.
31. New Orleans Saints – Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota
It’s hard to believe that the Saints will place all of their faith in Josh Hill as their starting tight end, and Williams has all-around ability that makes him worth taking a shot with late in the first round. Jimmy Graham will be difficult to replace, but Williams is a red-zone threat much like Graham.
32. New England Patriots – Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
The Patriots’ Super Bowl celebration was short-lived as they lost starting cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner in free agency. Bill Belichick is not afraid to take chances on players with character concerns, and the Patriots will need to keep their pass defense strong.
