1. Brandon Scherff, T/G, Iowa
It’s unknown what position Scherff will play in the NFL as he played left tackle for Iowa, but there’s a strong chance that he may play guard. There would be nothing wrong with that though, as Zack Martin excelled as a starting right guard in his rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys after gaining experience as a tackle at Notre Dame. Scherff made the All-America second team in 2013 before being named a unanimous first-team All-American in 2014.
He also won the Outland Trophy, which goes to the most outstanding interior lineman in college football. The only negative thing to note about Scherff is that he struggled against Maryland’s pass rush while Peat excelled against them. This may affect his status as the top lineman in the draft for some teams. However, his strength is incredible, which he showed by hang-cleaning 410 pounds three times.
Projection: Top 10-15
