The French international has told of his desire to play Champions League football next season, and Metro reports the 25-year-old is aiming to push through a move to the Emirates.
Tottenham are also believed to be chasing Schneiderlin, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to bring in his former player from his stint at St Mary’s.
However, Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League following their fifth-placed finish and Schneiderlin now looks set to join their north London rivals.
According to Metro, Arsene Wenger has made Schneiderlin one of his top transfer targets this summer and the Gunners are the clear favourites to land the star midfielder.
Schneiderlin joined Southampton from French side Strasbourg in 2008 and has since played 230 league games for the club.
With the emergence for Francois Coquelin at Arsenal, it will be interesting to see how Schneiderlin is used by Wenger if he indeed signs for the Gunners.
