Nicolas Gaitan has reportedly rejected the chance to join Al-Ahli as he holds out for a move to Manchester United.
The Dubai club were willing to pay £25m and a lucrative salary to land the Benfica winger, but he is not keen on a move to the Middle East, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
Instead the Argentina international is hopeful that United will make their interest in him concrete before the close of the transfer window.
The 27-year-old is not United’s first-choice target, but he has long been on their radar and the Red Devils may yet make a move before the deadline.
Gaitain, who is capable of playing on either flank, has scored 25 goals in 153 games for Benfica. He has two goals in nine caps for Argentina, but did not make their 2014 World Cup squad.
