The newly-crowned La Liga champions have reportedly lined the Colombian up as the ideal replacement for the veteran Dani Alves at right-back.
Though he is traditionally a winger, the Catalan giants believe he possesses the necessary energy to prove a threat when transitioning defence into attack.
However, though Barca cannot complete the move this summer as they are still under a transfer embargo, they are thought to be keen on taking care of the arrangements now in preparation for the deal to be sanctioned in January, according to sources in Spain.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho is believed to have been left unimpressed by Cuadrado’s contribution so far, and is said to be open to letting him move on providing they can recoup the majority of the fee they splashed out on him in the new year.
