Michu is happy under Michael Laudrup at Swansea…
Swansea City’s Spanish forward Michu has played down the repeated links to current Premier League table toppers Arsenal and Liverpool, reports the Independent, despite both reportedly considering bids of around £20 million.
The 27-year-old has been a revelation since arriving from La Liga last summer, and scored 17 Premier League goals in his debut season. This term, Michu is being deployed in a more withdrawn creative role behind record signing Wilfried Bony, and has adapted to the role seamlessly. He’s scored two and assisted one, and Liverpool and Arsenal could come in with an astronomical offer when the transfer window opens on January.
Michu is happy working under Michael Laudrup at last season’s League Cup champions, though.
“I’m not thinking about that right now,” he said.
“I’m very happy at Swansea. It’s a small club, but we’re in Europe and have already won a trophy, the first in the club’s history.”
The Spaniard could win his first international cap this evening against Georgia, after winning his first call up to Vincent Del Bosque’s squad. Spain will qualify for Brazil 2014 should they avoid defeat against the minnows, and will be one of the favourites for the next summer’s tournament.
Arsenal and Liverpool both have strikers in form at the moment, but are desperate to strengthen the squad in case injury problems arise. Olivier Giroud has led the Gunners’ line superbly this season, while Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez are arguably the most dangerous partnership in England right now.
