Cavendish tires of support rider role at Team Sky.
British cyclist Mark Cavendish is to leave Team Sky and sign for Belgian team Omega Pharma-Quickstep.
The Manx-man was voted this year as the greatest sprint cyclist in Tour de France history by influential French sport newspaper L’Equipe, but it appears he will look to chance his fortunes elsewhere – perhaps in favour of something more than a support role.
He will team up with Belgian rider Tom Boonen in what Omega Pharma-Quickstep will hope proves a dream team.
Earlier this year, Bradley Wiggins became the first British man to win the Tour de France.
