Toon eyeing French star.
Newcastle are set to land Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko after beating a host of Premier League rivals to the French international’s signature.
The 23-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit and is free to sign a pre-contract agreement from January 1.
Sissoko is believed to have already committed himself to Alan Pardew’s French revolution at Newcastle, joining Le Blues teammates Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa at St James’ Park.
If the Toon can secure his signature, it will be a considerable coup, with Tottenham, Liverpool, Fulham and Stoke all believed to have made contact with Sissoko’s agent.
But the box-to-box midfielder’s arrival at the Toon may cast the future of Cabaye and enforcer Chieck Titote into doubt.
The duo were both linked with moves away from Tyneside this summer, with Arsenal believed to be keeping a close eye on pass-master Cabaye.
Newcastle fans must be hoping that Sissoko’s arrival will complement their existing midfielder players, rather than replace current stars.
The 6’2” player has been with Toulose his whole career and has five caps for the French national team.
