Atletico to give Falcao a new deal, as Chelsea and Real Madrid hover.
Atletico Madrid are ready to offer star striker Radamel Falcao a bumper new deal to ward off interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid, reports talkSPORT.
The Colombian is widely considered to be the finest striker in world football at present and has begun the season in blistering form, with thirteen goals in nine La Liga games, going toe-to-toe with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the goal-scoring charts.
Chelsea are desperate to land the 26-year-old, who scored a sensational hattrick against them in the European Super Cup in August.
Real Madrid are also believed to be tracking the £38m-rated striker, despite head-coach Jose Mourinho describing the forward as ‘forbidden fruit’.
With Fernando Torres struggling up-front, Chelsea want to bring in Falcao in January but Atletico will not let the former Porto striker go without a fight.
The Spanish club’s hierarchy propose to add another year onto Falcao’s current contract, which expires in 2016, and increase his salary to keep him at Estadio Vicente Calderon.
Falcao has scored 34 league goals in 42 La Liga matches since arriving at Atletico.
