Gareth Bale is the top target for La Liga giants Real Madrid next summer, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
Bale, 23, has established himself as one of the most coveted players in world football with his performances for Tottenham over the past three seasons and the Wales international has long been linked with a move to Barcelona or Real.
The former Southampton star is under contract at White Hart Lane until 2016 but has hinted in the past that he wants to play Champions League football and is open to the possibility of moving abroad.
Balague believes that Bale is unlikely to force his current employer’s hand – as playmaker Luka Modrid did this summer – if Los Blancos express an interest, meaning that the Spaniards may have to cough up around £60m to prize Bale from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s grasp.
The two clubs signed a strategic partnership in the summer, following Modric’s £32m move from North London to the Bernebeu, but Spurs have denied the agreement entitles Real to first option on Bale.
The young winger shot to fame in 2010-11 season, when he twice destroyed Inter Milan in the Champions League group stage, scoring a sensational hattrick at the San Siro before providing two assists in Spurs’ victory at White Hart Lane.
It is believed that Real boss Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the winger and believes the youngster can become as complete a forward as current Madrid superstar Ronaldo.
