Chelsea are interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Sandro but will face competition from Italian giants AC Milan, fanatix has learnt.
The Blues are understood to be weighing up a £15m bid for the Brazilian next summer and believe he will swap North London for West, particularly if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League.
In the absence of the injured Scott Parker, Sandro has been a key part of Andre Villas-Boas’ encouraging start as Spurs boss, featuring from the start in every league game under the Portuguese.
The 23-year-old struggled to form and fitness last term but showed glimpses of class during his first season at White Hart Lane, where he produced two magnificent Champions League performances as Spurs beat AC Milan over two legs in 2010.
It is believed that the Italians have also been tracking the former Internacaional player for some time and are ready to rival Chelsea for his signature next summer.
The Blues have already signed Sandro’s former teammate and fellow Brazil international Oscar and it is understood that the hierachy at Stamford Bridge believes the enforcer is an upgrade on Jon Obi Mikel.
Spurs would be reluctant to lose Sandro but Chelsea have money to burn and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has proved willing to sell his star players at the right price in the past.
