Liverpool could be set to finally make a move to sort out their striker selection crisis, with Chelsea hitman Daniel Sturridge the most likely target.
Brendan Rodgers’ striker issues are well documented – with Andy Carroll on loan at West Ham United and Fabio Borini out with a long term injury, Luis Suarez is the only fit centre forward at Anfield – and even he isn’t exactly completely suited to the role of lone striker.
Daniel Sturridge didn’t exactly win many plaudits with his performance in last night’s extra time win over Manchester United in the Capital One Cup at Stamford Bridge – despite scoring Chelsea’s fourth goal.
His myopic and blinkered approach to play when team-mates were in space have seen him labelled the most selfish striker since sliced bread.
That… that actually might be a good thing for Liverpool.
The Reds have suffered from a peculiar disorder in the last few seasons. They create infinity chances per game, but tend to put about 0.1% in the back of the net.
Perhaps having someone who will shoot on sight – and sometimes even not on sight – would solve all Liverpool’s problems.
