Speculation is mounting that Liverpool could launch a bid for Torino centre back Angelo Ogbonna in January as Jamie Carragher looks to be put out to pasture.
Once a tremendous central defender, Carragher now possesses the turning circle of a rotating restaurant, and only really features UEFA Europa League games as the experienced head in a young Liverpool XI.
Carragher is gradually being eased into retirement with an offer of a coaching position upon hanging up his boots, and understandably Liverpool are looking at replacements.
Of course, behind Daniel Agger and the vowel-deficient Martin Skrtel Liverpool have Sebastian Coates and Martin Kelly, but it is thought that the latter will eventually be a right back, leaving few options should one of the first choice pair be injured.
Angelo Ogbonna is a ball playing centre half in a similar vein to Daniel Agger. Like the Denmark international, he likes to play an incisive long ball, and has plenty of potential.
Ogbonna has earned four caps for Italy, and looks to go on to great things with his country.
Could he also do great things at Anfield?
