Arsenal are set to move for Paris Saint-Germain winger Nene in January to give them additional options in the forward positions.
According to Brazilian football website Sambafoot, the PSG star is available on a free transfer in January, and Arsene Wenger is sure to be interested in such a bargain.
Still, there are a number of clubs looking into the possibility of signing Nene, with Santos the first to go public with their interest.
“We’re not negotiating with Nene [yet],” said Odilio Rodrigues, Santos vice president.
“We know he’s a good player, which will be available. He informed us of his situation.”
Nene may be 31, but he has gained plenty of experience. With the Gunners also likely to sign Crystal Palace wide man Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window, Brazilian ace Nene could prove the stop gap between regular first team games for the Gunners.
As Theo Walcott’s contract situation seems less and less likely to be resolved, would Arsenal fans be happy with Nene and Zaha as January replacements?
