Juventus are set to let veteran defender Lucio leave the club on a free transfer, and Tottenham Hotspur are rumoured to be the surprise beneficiaries.
The Brazil defender won the World Cup with his country back in 2002, and has gone on to claim almost every trophy there is to win in club football too, culminating with a famous treble in 2010: the Serie A title, the UEFA Champions League and the Coppa Italia.
Lucio has not received much first team football at Juventus this season, but still has a huge amount to offer – even at the age of 34.
It would appear that Andre Villas-Boas believes he would be a better experienced name in the Spurs back line than the likes of William Gallas, and who better to mentor young defenders such as Steven Caulkner?
A proven winner and a great defender, Lucio would be an intriguing asset to Tottenham Hotspur – and the Premier League.
