Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all reportedly interested in signing teenage Watford defender Tom Hoban, according to the Daily Star.
The 18 year-old centre back has broken into the Hornets team this season under Gianfranco Zola, scoring twice already in his seven appearances for the club.
Zola has certainly been impressed by the former Arsenal trainee.
“Tommie Hoban was the best player on the pitch, no question in my mind,” said the Italian after his team beat Leicester City.
“His confidence, his touch – he has a calm in possession which is a great quality for a defender.
“You don’t need to tell Tommie something twice either. That’s why he’s improving so much game by game.”
Though born in Walthamstow in England, Hoban has so far represented the Republic of Ireland.
Should he continue to develop as expected, he could well be the subject of a battle between the two countries for his allegiance.
For the time being though, it is his club future that is in the balance.
Which of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United will win the race for his signature?
