Liverpool look set to beat Manchester United to the signing of SC Heerenveen ace Filip Djuricic, according to the Daily Star.
The Red Devils have been monitoring the progress of the 20 year-old Serbian for some time now – indeed Djuricic went on trial at Old Trafford at the age of 18.
Whilst Manchester United were impressed by his talent, they have felt that they would be unlikely to receive a work permit so that he could move to the UK.
However, Djuricic has earned seven caps for Serbia this year, scoring once, and Liverpool feel that they would be more successful in their work permit application should they have a bid accepted.
Djuricic primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but has also played up front and on the left wing.
He is a rare breed of footballer in that he is confident with either foot, and could offer a versatile option in Liverpool’s attacking line.
