Long-time Tottenham target Leandro Damiao has been linked with a surprise move to Chelsea, after admitting he is in regular contact with Blues playmaker Oscar.
Brazil international Damiao was wanted by both Spurs and Man City this summer, with the North Londoners seeing a £22m bid rejected by Internacional.
Damiao, who finished top scorer at the London Olympic games with seven goals, has long interested Tottenham who have a strategic partnership with Porto Alegre-based Inter.
But the Brazilians have so far resisted any offers from the Premier League, with 22-year-old Damiao insisting he is happy in his homeland.
Man City have also tracked the forward, who is expected to lead the line for his country alongside Neymar in the 2014 World Cup.
Chelsea have now emerged as surprise suitors for Damiao after the striker admitted he was good friends with Blues 20-year-old playamker Oscar, formerly of Inter, and that he wants to move to Europe in the future.
“Oscar is a big friend and our wives are friends, too,” he told UOL. “He is happy there, but of course misses Brazil as a lot of people helped him there.
“Of course all players have the dream of going (to Europe). That will happen one day. He asks me when I’ll go there, I say I can’t answer that yet.
“I’m happy at Internacional, I have a long contract. All players dream of going to Europe and that will happy one day, but I’m happy here.”
