Liverpool have an unusual name in mind to replace Jamie Carragher.
The Daily Mail says that Reading defender Alex Pearce is the man that Brendan Rodgers has in mind as Carragher’s successor, which may well alarm some Reds fans.
Pearce isn’t renowned as a particularly special player yet, but at 23 years of age he has plenty of time to become one.
He would also come at a bargain price, as his contract is up in the summer.
Talks so far have resulted in an impasse, so Reading may be open to offers in January, and at a cut-price as they may have to accept any fee that they can get.
Still, given that Pearce has been left on the bench for the last seven matches, Liverpool fans may wonder what he has done in order to earn a move to Anfield…
