Sooners head coach Bob Stoops began his quest for another Big Twelve title and a possible run at the national title with an easy win over Louisiana Tech.
The Oklahoma Sooners crushed the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs 48-16 in what amounted to a tune-up game in the easiest month of the college football season.
The Sooners dominated the first half of the game, scoring 31 points in the first 27 minutes and only allowing the Bulldogs a FG before the half ended. In the 3rd quarter the Sooners scored 10 more points to make the game 41-3. Oklahoma allowed two TDs to the Bulldogs in the 4th quarter, but by then the game was essentially over. The Sooners tacked on one more TD in the 4th quarter to make the final score 48-16.
The Sooners were so efficient with the football that they only punted once the entire game. QB Trevor Knight was efficient, going 19 of 34 for 253 yards, a TD and an INT, as well as 17 yards rushing.
With the win, the Sooners remain the front-runner for the Big Twelve title as they begin a stretch of 5 games against unranked opponents.
