United look set to miss out on Argentine star.Manchester United have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Argentine winger Angel Di Maria after he rejected a £150,000-per-week contract offer to move to Old Trafford, according to AS.
The 26-year-old has been high in demand this summer after it has emerged that Real are willing to let him leave for around £47m, despite his superb performances for the club last season as he played an instrumental role in victories over Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the finals of the Champions League and Copa del Rey, respectively.
Di Maria is now set to be given a role on the big stage again as he prepares to represent his country in tonight’s World Cup final against Germany, but it looks increasingly likely that he won’t be joining United next season.
The club’s lack of Champions League football may be a factor, with the former Benfica ace seemingly prefering a switch to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain over a chance to link up with Louis van Gaal at a new-look United side.
The Red Devils are now expected to focus their attention on the signing of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.
