Alex Boone trade rumors
The 49ers have activated G Alex Boone after he held out of training camp and preseason before signing a new contract last week. To make room for him on the roster, the 49ers chose to cut WR and special teams ace Kassim Osgood.
Boone has started 32 straight games for the 49ers and has been one of the unsung heroes of San Francisco’s stellar offensive line. Boone held out of training camp and the preseason after a contract dispute but received a hefty pay raise from the club last week.
Osgood has played in 166 games in an 11-year career for four different teams. He is a 3-time Pro Bowler who went as a special teams ace for San Diego in 2006, 2007 and 2009. He played in 14 games for the 49ers last season and recorded only 1 catch for 17 yards.
