NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders made a bold statement to NFL.com yesterday, claiming that 49ers players told him they want coach Jim Harbaugh out.
Harbaugh responded today with a complete denial of the allegations.
“Personally I think that’s a bunch of crap,” Harbaugh said, via Lindsay Jones of USA Today. “If I’ve got a good story to tell I’d want to put my name to it,” he said. “So I don’t put a whole lot of credibility to the ‘unnamed source.’“
Many rumors have circulated that players are tired of Harbaugh, that the front office is hesitant to offer him the lucrative contract extension he wants, and that Harbaugh is feeling the waters for a return to coaching college football.
The 49ers started 1-2 before a thrilling comeback win over the Eagles on Sunday.
