Centre-back: Out – Phil Jagielka, In – Chris Smalling
For a couple of years, Jagielka was Cahill’s regular centre-back partner, but a below-par season for Everton and Chris Smalling’s emergence at Manchester United has seen the tables turned.
Smalling started June’s qualifier in Slovenia alongside Cahill and is likely to be recalled.
