1. The win PROVES NOTHING
While Chelsea got a win in what was undoubtedly the easiest opponent that any of the Premier League clubs in the Champions League had to face this week, it isn’t even any indication that they can contend with their other Group stage opponents – Porto and Dynamo Kyiv, who fought to a 2-2 draw and both of whom have far more depth than Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
Those three points will go a long way in getting Chelsea into the Round of 16, but is a home-win over a minnow really an indication that Chelsea have solved all of their problems and are ready to contend for the Champions League, or even the Premier League? It really isn’t.
