2. Chelsea’s defense is GUARANTEED to come back to life
While it’s hard to call five consecutive games allowing 2+ goals an “aberration,” those struggles aren’t going to continue against this Israeli team. John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic – despite their recent dry-spells – are still two of the best defenders in UEFA and have seen it all.
Maccabi Tel-Aviv may be great at attacking, but they’ve never faced a defensive front quite like the one Chelsea trots out week after week.
And as for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, while he certainly is no Thibaut Courtois or Petr Cech, he’s a more than serviceable stopper who won’t be tricked by the likes of Eran Zahavi, even if he is one of the most aggressive strikers the club has faced this season.
