The Sun claim that the Ligue 1 giants have asked agents to try and broker a season-long loan move for the 27-year-old.
It’s believed any agreement between the two clubs would then include a £50 million clause that would allow the French club to purchase the Argentine on a permanent basis.
PSG would have no trouble completing such a deal now but due to overarching Financial Fair Play concerns, they will wait until next year to see if they can purchase the player whilst still complying with regulations.
However, unlike Radamel Falcao’s deal to bring him to United, Di Maria’s move would have to be made permanent at the Parc des Princes and PSG would have no option but to buy the player if they agreed to the initial loan.
After just 19 starts this season and a paltry three goals, it’s hardly the stellar debut campaign Di Maria will have wanted at Old Trafford when he actually snubbed PSG in favour of the Red Devils.
It’s a transfer that clearly hasn’t gone to plan and you could imagine United selling in the hope that they recoup at least some of the £59.7m, British transfer fee record they spent to get the player in the first place.
