According to Daily Express, United are preparing to offer the Bundesliga giants £50m for the German international and Muller a lucrative five-year deal.
However, van Gaal faces more transfer woe, with the 25-year-old suggested he was flattered to hear of such an offer from the Premier League giants, but he is happy to remain at the Allianz Arena.
“When you get an offer you consider it automatically,” he told Bild [via Daily Express].
“A request by a big club is an honour and appreciation that your output was good. But I feel fine at Bayern and my contract runs until 2019. There is nothing more to say about this speculation.”
It’s the second rejection by a Bayern Munich player this week alone after Bastian Schweinsteiger reportedly turned down a move to Old Trafford earlier in the week.
United are expected to continue the pursuit of Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos, who is believed to have told the La Liga giants of his desire to leave the Bernabeu.
