Di Maria moved to Manchester United from Real Madrid for a British record transfer £59.7m, however things did not exactly go to plan for the Argentine international following a disappointing start to his Premier League career.
Despite reports linking the 27-year-old with moves to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Di Maria says he wants to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his spot.
“Yes, for me and my family. Because not everything goes as I want, because I don’t play,” Di Maria told Argentine newspaper Ole [via The Daily Mail].
“I came with an intention and end up on the bench. It’s hard to say how I feel there.
“I started well with goals and assists. I was having a good time, until I was out. It’s a little hard to explain why I do not play.
“No [I will not leave] because I’m not thinking like that. In Madrid there were times when I was whistled around the stadium but faced it and then it turned around. I like to deal with things.”
Di Maria scored just three goals last term and was sent off in United’s FA Cup sixth-round loss to Arsenal.
