Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal looks set to remain with the North London club despite rumours of a move to La Liga side Athletic Bilbao, according to reports.
The Spanish left-back was the subject of a £6m bid from Bilbao, but Daily Express [via Mundo Deportivo] reports the former Malaga man will sign a new £75k-a-week deal that will see him remain at the club until 2017.
He will join Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla in committing his future to the Gunners after Arsenal announced new deals for the duo last Friday.
Monreal has struggled to nail down a spot in Arsene Wenger starting XI since making his debut in 2012, making 61 Premier League appearances in three seasons since joining from Malaga.
In other Arsenal news, Portuguese publication Mundos dos Guarda-Redes reports the Gunners have beaten Manchester United to the signing of Benfica youngster Joao Virginia.
The 15-year-old goalkeeper is highly-rated and has previously trialled with the Red Devils and was reportedly on the “cusp” of completing a deal with United.
However, Arsenal officials are believed to have swooped and the shot-stopper has reportedly penned a four-year deal with the club.
