He’s no Sergio Ramos, but Fabio Coentrao is a stud who can improve the Man United defense immediately.
With two straight clean sheets and six points on the table after two weeks the last thing on any Man United fan’s mind is a need to improve the defense, but the availability of Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao has caught the club’s attention.
According to the Metro, Man United are weighing up an offer for Coentrao after the La Liga giants decided that they are ready to sell their 27-year-old left back.
Chelsea were believed to be interested in a move for Coentrao as as well, but the Blues have since moved on to transfer for bids for other targets such as John Stones and Baba Rahman.
Fabio Coentrao signed with Real Madrid in 2011 on a €30 million swap with Benfica that also included Ezequiel Garay. In five seasons Coentrao has made 100 total appearances primarily in spot duty for the La Liga giants.
Coentrao was the Primeira Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2009 and the Benfica Player of the Year in 2011.
