Higuain has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A heavyweights and reports in Italy [via Metro] suggest the Argentine international is keen on a move to Anfield.
The 27-year-old has been valued by Napoli at a staggering £72m, however it is believed the Reds could snare Higuain for a fee in the region of £42m.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster his front third ahead following a disappointing season and has already brought in highly-rated Hoffenheim attacker Roberto Firmino and Burnley youngster Danny Ings.
Higuain’s arrival at Anfield would come as a massive boost to Liverpool’s title aspirations, however a move to Merseyside would no doubt come as a huge shock considering his hefty price tag.
It is believed Liverpool will sell Raheem Sterling for a fee between £40-50m, however the Reds are understood to have already spent £28m on Firmino.
