Paul Pogba is worth a lot, but Chelsea seem to think he’s worth more than Diego Costa and Eden Hazard combined.
When Chelsea decided to launch a bid for Paul Pogba, few expected that it would break the all-time transfer record. But that’s exactly what the Blues appear to be on pace to do.
According to the Express, Chelsea have made an £86 million offer to Serie A champions Juventus in exchange for the megastar midfielder who is coming off one of his best years ever. A transfer fee of that size would break the £85.3 million record currently held by Gareth Bale, who was sold by Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in 2013.
The move would also make Pogba more expensive than two of Chelsea’s biggest superstars – Diego Costa (£32m in 2014) and Eden Hazard (£32m in 2012) – COMBINED.
The bid would also be more than three times the £27 million that the Blues paid Barcelona for starting midfielder Cesc Fabregas in 2013.
Pogba received the coveted Golden Boy Award in 2013 for the best Under-21 player in Europe. It is a reward shared by such European football superstars as Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Mario Gotze and Raheem Sterling.
