According to ProFootballTalk, the only three witnesses Hernandez’s team brought in were experts who talked about the effects of PCP in the body – a claim that Hernandez’s lawyers have been trying to use explain the former Patriots tight end’s behavior as the results of PCP use and that he is not responsible for his actions in the first degree murder trial.
Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports reported that the prosecution has called a rebuttal witness in the case who will dispute the claims made by Hernandez’s PCP experts.
Beyond that, Wetzel’s details of the trial show that the prosecution in the case has DNA evidence from the crime scene, tire tracks, security footage and the testimony of over 100 witnesses in order to meet their burden of proof.
ProFootballTalk added that closing arguments are expected to start Tuesday, after which the jury will begin deliberations.
The trial has not been without its controversies as several witnesses have been sent home by the judge in the case, and was even interrupted by a bomb threat last week.
